Building our new home
In March of 2019 soon after finding out we were having a baby we knew we needed more space. We really wanted a home just like ours, but larger. We fell in love with the first neighborhood we looked at and even though moving was just a conversation at this point, it felt right!
There were two homes we were back and forth on for different reasons. We had our earnest money down on a dirt lot and a verbal offer on a resale in the neighborhood with a beautiful finished basement. Both were absolutely amazig, but neither of them clicked. Our realtor saw that after almost two weeks of debating between them both she knew we had to see every single house available in that neighborhood before she would let us make our final decision. There were only 6 home left to be built in the neighborhood, so we agreed. I’m so glad we did.
On a cold and wet Saturday, we went and looked at them all. We walked into about the 4th house and didn’t quite know if it was even available. When we stepped foot in that house and heard our realtor say it was available, I screamed! I knew this was going to be our house! It was such a great feeling and one that I was looking to have for weeks now. This home had a combination of the two floor plans we loved, the drywall was hung, and since timing was huge for us, this was a win! We couldn’t be more excited!
Once I calmed down enough to let Michael process everything he said can we do our design appointment today? They said yes! Since we were about 90 days out that was preferred. It was a long day, but one we won’t forget.
It’s official, we’re under contract!
Since we were under contract we had to put our home on the market, and fast. Within a week our house was on the market and sold in less than 48 hours! Our buyers were flexible with a closing date as long as it was in May.
We’ve taken countless trips to the new home to watch the progress over the last few months. It’s been so exciting seeing it come together! We would discover new things about the home each time and talked about our future there. Its been really special!
On our first builder walk we were talking about our journey to this home and the builder stopped and said wow someone was really looking out for y’all. We said what do you mean? He said well the lot three doors down which you can see is still dirt and wouldn’t be ready before your baby came and the resale homes beautiful basement that the homeowners finished themselves, flooded. I immediately got chills. We really did get luck and I’m forever grateful!
